I came to the cardiac cath lab and had a stent placed in my LAD artery by the doctor and left on the following day. 4 days later on an early Saturday morning when the temp outside was between 0-5 degrees. I came back to the hospital with severe chest pain. I was taken to the cardiac cath lab again and then to the CCU. It is here that I met Natalie Jordan. She was my nurse that Saturday from for 12 hours 7 am to 7 30 PM, and the following day for 12 hours as well. I would like to say that during these two days I was really impressed by the way this young girl took care of me. I could not imagine the compassion and sensitivity level she had. I felt very comfortable as she made sure I was comfortable in every possible way.

I had come to the hospital in my pajamas with no preparation and no belongings. She made sure that I ate well. She was very busy but still cared enough to ask me if I wanted anything from the cafeteria. I told her I had a craving for a muffin. She sent a friend to the cafeteria and had her bring me a chocolate chip muffin and then made me a cup of tea to go with it. Then she found out that I was a vegetarian which is why I did not eat anything on my lunch tray. She brought me her own Starbucks yogurt and insisted I eat it. She then called and ordered a veggie burger. Every time she came in the room she was extremely professional and she is thorough about cleanliness - cleaning every spot every time. She always had a smile on her face, always found time to chat a little. Well, that Saturday was a snowy day with about 3-5 inches in the city. My nurse could not leave till the evening staff came in, at about 830 PM. She had to borrow a friend's snow boots as she did not come in snowboots that day.

The next morning inspite of the fact that everything was so icy outside, Natalie was at work on time. She came to see me with a container of yogurt. On Saturday night before getting home, she stopped at the corner store and picked up a yogurt for me and a snack for another patient. I was so touched that a young nurse after working 12 hours was thinking of her patient on her way home on a snowy stormy night.

I am very glad to share this experience with the hospital. Einstein has an excellent staff of nurses, residents, fellowship staff and attending physicians. I was very lucky to come to this hospital and have Natalie Jordan as my nurse.
