I nominate Molly Dahlke, ICU RN, as a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award. Molly cared for my father, Mark Malott.

I’m very sorry that I’m writing this over two months since my family and I witnessed the wonderful care Molly gave to my father after his neck surgery on July 13, 2010. I guess this is a wonderful example of how great she was, that even two months later, I still remember her name and probably will forever.

My father had a stroke 6 weeks before the car accident that broke his neck, leaving him to need neck surgery and spend two months in a halo. Molly visited his room frequently, which I can’t tell you how much easier it was for us to leave the hospital and take a break. (Knowing we could do that with ease when he was in Molly’s care, because we knew he would be well taken care of.)

The summer of 2010 has been a very, very difficult summer for my family. My father had the stroke in May, one month before my wedding. Then, 2 weeks after the wedding, the accident. My family was at a point where we just couldn’t handle anymore. Molly was an angel for my dad. With everything he went through in that 1 ½ month time period, she helped make everything SO MUCH easier for my family when we thought it couldn’t get better.
She deserves more praise than anyone can give her. Thank you Molly for really caring!
