I met Misty Moy on my first day as a nurse tech. I remember going to Day surgery and feeling so nervous and anxious. Misty greeted me with a smile, orientated me to the unit, told me she was so happy I was there, and asked me a million questions. Everyone who knows Misty knows that she has one of the biggest hearts. She is the first one to volunteer to help with calls or to stay late. She is a hard worker and never complains about bouncing around from unit to unit. I could go on and on about what a great person and nurse she is, but I would like to talk about one particular instance that Misty went above and beyond.

There was a family in PACU after hours that was not able to pick up their child's pain prescription because they did not have a car and they were waiting for transportation. Misty's shift was over, however, she clocked out and then took the prescription to a local pharmacy to pick up the prescription for the patient. I don't remember all the specifics, but I do know that an hour later Misty was still helping the family and was doing this on her own time.

Many of the great things Misty does are after hours when no one is around to pat her on the back. I feel that she deserves recognition for all the great things she does for the patients, families, and her coworkers at Driscoll. Misty definitely without a doubt deserves the DAISY Award. I am so blessed that she is my coworker and even more blessed that she is my best friend.
