Misti admitted a patient that was driving through and had no local family or friends. He was stressed and worried and she found that much of this was due to the fact that he had to put his dog in the local Humane Society. The dog was a house dog and had never spent the night outside. Misti called the patient's mother, whom she had contacted earlier and asked if she (Misti) could go get the dog and keep it at her house during the patient's stay on her floor. She felt this would calm the patient and make things go smoother. Both mom and the patient agreed and were thrilled! Misti called the Humane Society and they actually agreed to bring the dog to the hospital and meet Misti when she got off work that night! They were also worried because it was during that horrible cold period we had and knew that this dog was not going to tolerate the weather outside well.

The dog stayed with Misti for about a week and during that time was groomed, pampered, fed and treated like one of the family. Taking pictures of the dog and showing the patient calmed him greatly. Misti is one of the kindest souls I know and could not stand the thought of the dog staying outside. She made this man's stay special and one that both he and his family have not forgotten. A recent card from his Mom proves that he got "All her best" during his stay.

Dear Misti, Thank you so much for the loving care you provided for Ponce(the dog) and my son, Joseph. Your kindness is such a blessing to us! Joseph got home to Savannah along with Ponce. Please keep him in your prayers.

Thank you for all you did for Ponce, Joseph and us! God bless you.
