... Michelle was caring for a mother that had just had her first baby unexpectedly. She was a young, single parent who had recently lost her own mother two months prior to her delivery. Michelle saw several needs for this patient. She spent quality time with her, teaching her how to care for her baby and herself. She also made sure that she had access to several community resources that could help her once she left the hospital. What really impressed me was the extra time that she took to help...decipher whether insurance would cover the cost of a breast pump once she left the hospital. I was able to care for this same patient the very next day, and could see the relief that this patient felt. She and her father expressed their appreciation for all that Michelle had done for them. This situation at the end of the day really left an impact on me and helped me to re-examine whether or not I am giving the same care or impacting a life like she did that very day.

Michelle goes above and beyond the call of duty for the patients and the staff every day! I never see her without a smile on her face, and she is the first to say "how can I help with this situation"? I believe Michelle is an outstanding role model and very deserving of the DAISY Award.
