I first met Michele in early February when in for a consultation appointment with Dr. S. She greeted me with a smile and friendly face. When I got to the exam room, I was crying and so upset and she just sat and listened to me and talked with me until I calmed down. Then 2 days before my radiation treatment, she phoned me to give me my instructions for the day of the procedure. She was on the phone with me for over 35 minutes, reassuring me, answering my questions and explaining to me how the entire day would go. It was very late in the day and I know she got out of the office late that day but she never wavered in her helping and explaining things to me.

Then on the day of the procedure, she was the first person I saw, after checking in, and again I was greeted so warmly, politely and caringly! She took time to speak to my sister and husband who were with me, introduced herself to them and explained where to wait, what was going to happen, etc. she administered my meds and was with me when the halo was placed and was such a great support person to have with me! When my procedure was over, she was with me to remove the halo and put some bandages on my head. She again explained anything I needed to look for, advised me of what to do if I had complications, etc. she then took me back to waiting area where my family was and chatted with them and advised them of how well I had done.

She made, in my mind, what I thought was going to be a horrible day, into a day that I can look back on with gratitude for having had her as my nurse! She was the first medical staff I saw that day upon entering the Cancer Center and the last one I saw when I left that night and I am so grateful that it was Michele! She is the meaning of the word "nurse"! Carle should be so proud to have her on their staff! Thank you, Michele!
