Mary has been caring for a very complex oncology patient who requires chemotherapy every two weeks. The patient has very unique and special needs and requires very individualized care. This is truly a story of what we do best in providing cancer care that is unique and individualized. In order to give this patient their chemotherapy, the patient needs special accommodations including sedation and operating room space. Many logistics have been involved. Mary has coordinated the patient's care across multiple areas of the hospital.

Mary has such great concern and love for this patient. She has spent countless hours, even working on the weekends to make the patient's appointments with us here at UCM successful and safe. The patient has been turned away from other centers due to the complexity of the care coordination. Mary and her physician colleagues have provided hope and support to a family that is very burdened. When Mary cares for the patient you can see the concern and love in her eyes and the gentle touch she has towards the patient and the family.

Mary is extremely busy in an already hectic clinic but takes hours out of her day to stay with the patient during the individual's treatments and to provide updates for the family. The patient's safety is forefront in her mind and she works to make the chemotherapy administration flow seamlessly. She works very hard to make sure the patient does not have to be sedated any longer than needed and is a true patient advocate.
