Nomination 1:

Martha is seen as a mentor and is often called upon to assist with other patients needs and to address nursing questions. As a case manager, her patients always present well cared for upon entering the room. Patients have few or no complaints regarding "waiting on nurse". Her patients are always ready when discharge/ambulance arrives; reports are called to outlying/receiving facilities. She shows good critical thinking regarding her patients' needs at discharge. Families are kept informed of care and plan for the day. Never hear "I don't know" when she is asked. She is always pleasant in mood and attitude.

Nomination 2:

Martha was a transplant here from another hospital several years ago and has been a blessing and asset to UTMC. She initially started out in the registry and really wanted a "home". Has she ever found a home! She has the best attitude. She can make things happen. Her work ethic is a "get it done" attitude and in today's world that is the catalyst to get things completed and in a timely manner. The patients and their families love her and usually want for nothing when she is their nurse. She has been a preceptor to senior nursing students and new graduates and has a wealth of knowledge she is willing to share. She makes our team better by just being here.

Nomination 3:

Martha Jones has always been the most compassionate nurse. Patients always talk about her and all she does. She goes above and beyond. I have seen her feeding patients, comforting families, and doing all the things she could have put off when she was swamped just to make a difference. She also will stop anything she is doing to help other staff. I can think back to my hardest most difficult days at work, days I actually thought I hated my job, Martha was always the one who stopped everything to help. She is an outstanding team member and excels in all areas of nursing. She is always up to date on the latest knowledge/information to allow for exceptional excellence based nursing care. When I have a question or need guidance I go to her. She is what every nurse should strive to be. She is nursing!

Nomination 4:

Martha is an amazing team leader. She doesn't let pressure get to her and she always has an answer for everything. She is very approachable and easy to talk to. I know that if she doesn't know the answer to something she will be honest and will find out the answer quickly. She is sweet and it the best RN at placing IVs. She is also funny and that makes her enjoyable to work with. She is fabulous.

Nomination 5:

Martha Jones's compassion is apparent when observing her interacting with her patients. Just today when she entered a patient's room, though the patient was not complaining of any pain or discomfort, she exhibited that "sense" she has that something wasn't right. She asked the patient about it and the patient revealed some pain (although was not complaining of pain). She is always ready to assist other staff, making her an excellent team player. She is not above helping a CNA or other RN without even being asked for help. I always look forward the days that I get to be her CNA.

Nomination 6:

Martha is 110% committed to patient care. They quickly form a bond with Martha. Her true passion and genuineness is the reason. Her devotion to patients and staff is always present. Whether it's starting an IV for someone, helping a CNA with a difficult situation, or to relieve other staff, she is simply inspiring. Her leadership as Team Leader is as equally extraordinary because her team work style and collaboration is infectious. She recognizes the needs of others with NO preference to whom or how she helps. She demonstrates and advocates team efforts with a positive attitude. We all have our own thoughts on today's circumstances, situations and choices, she is still understanding, flexible, and compassionate in spirit, which exudes a positive happy environment for all. It is not always about the newest degree or achievements. It being awesome at what you do. She is a rare gem and represents our hospital's mission and values.
