My husband was in the hospital for pneumonia. He hated hospitals and not being able to come and go as he pleases, but then Marie walked in. Now, he is kind of a goof and likes to joke around, especially when he is bored. So, he would make a joke and Marie would laugh and fire one right back at him. Without her playful banter, he would have gone crazy! She made sure that he had everything he needed as soon as she got there and made sure he was taken care of before she left for the evening. The first night I slept in a chair next to him and laid my head on the bed. When Marie came in and saw how I was sleeping, she made sure to get me a chair that reclined so I would be comfortable since I was staying another night with him. She went out of her way to make sure that not only was he comfortable and had what he needed, but that I was as well.
Hospitals can be scary and boring while you wait for blood work and test results to come back, but Marie's big smile and lighthearted personality made it fun and comfortable for both of us. We aren't in hospitals often, but Marie went above and beyond more than any nurse we have ever met! I have never had the pleasure of having such an amazing nurse, I feel like she is more of a friend.
