Marcia began her career in healthcare in 1967 first as a unit secretary, then as a nursing assistant, and after graduating from St. Margaret’s School of Nursing in 1973, as a registered nurse. She joined Providence Medical Center in 1976 recently celebrating 36 years of service. During that time Marcia has worked in a variety of settings to include general Med/Surg, Oncology, and, now, the hospital’s Spine Center.

In addition, Marcia also has served for many years as the facilitator of the hospital’s breast cancer survivor group. In each area she has been known not only for her clinical expertise but even more for her extraordinary compassion and empathy for the needs of her patients and their families. Her recent nomination, by a patient’s daughter, truly describes Marcia’s caring approach to each of her patients:

When my mother finished surgery and was sent to the Spine Center, Marcia immediately displayed a servant’s heart. She put herself in my mother’s shoes and offered compassion and explanation. She asked questions, she answered questions, she listened, and was unfailingly kind. But she was also as kind and concerned about my stay as she was for mother thinking outside the box for both of us to make sure our needs were anticipated before we even expressed them and were immediately met. She shared her heart as a servant and was a true advocate for this family. You should be very proud of her.

The associates of Providence Medical Center are proud to work with Marcia Taylor, an extraordinary nurse.
