The first time my son was admitted we were sent to 2A and Mallory was our nurse. She made us feel at home and exuded compassion and care to our son. Her level of commitment to our son was amazing, I expected everyone to be like her. We quickly realized how special Mallory was and that there wasn't another nurse we had that matched her care.
One specific example was her communication with the attending pediatrician to coordinate the manner and time for all of his bloodwork. He has been stuck a lot and is very hard to get blood and an IV. Mallory shared our concerns with Dr. P and they coordinated to have Mason's blood drawn while he was under anesthesia.
I cannot say how much it meant that she really listened to us and was our advocate. I'll never forget how excited she was to share the news that they weren't going to stick my son multiple times, you could tell how much she cared.

Our second encounter with Mallory came after he needed a tracheotomy. We are currently still in the hospital and Mallory is our lead/primary nurse in making sure we are educated in the treatment/care of our son. Again, we are amazed by her concern for not only his health and well-being but ours as well. She's communicated with the head nurses, doctors, and social workers to ensure our needs are being met (with such a long hospital stay.

Staying in the hospital for such a long period of time is not easy, but when Mallory is our nurse we feel our son and our family are truly cared for like at home. She's a wonderful nurse and person.
