Lynn stopped at nothing to provide outstanding cultural care and developed a genuine connection to her patient's family. They were from Nigeria and the mother had very limited family in America. This patient was born extremely prematurely after the mother had experienced multiple demises and miscarriages. Due to the mother's history, she was very apprehensive to bond with her baby; Lynn started out their relationship with helping the mother appropriately bond with her baby. With the father of the baby still in Nigeria, Lynn provided amazing support for the patient's mother.
Lynn went over and above what was required of her throughout the patients 4 month stay. Lynn identified the mother's need to bond with her baby, despite being scared, and helped the mother foster the relationship the mother has with her baby today. Lynn went above and beyond to meet not only the patient's needs but also the patient's mother's needs. Lynn ensured that the mother was connected with the appropriate resources so the mother was able to visit her baby. The bond and connection that Lynn established with this mother was outstanding. Lynn always ensured to provide outstanding education to the patient's mother throughout the patient's stay. Lynn bonded with the patient and the patient's mother and helped the mother of the baby develop a family like bond with the rest of the unit since the mother had limited support during her time in America. Through Lynn, the patient was discharged to a mom who can confidently and appropriately care for her ex-micro preemie.
