I recently traveled to Albany from Las Vegas to visit my father at Phoebe Hospital. As an 89-year-old stroke victim, he was in extreme pain with a recent lower back fracture and had no mobility. Lynda Gamble was our nurse for 3 consecutive days. My mom has limited abilities and was there with me. After a short visit with Lynda, my mother and I felt comfortable enough to leave him and go home for some rest. Something that she never does, at age 85, she has spent many nights with him in the wooden chair. With Lynda there we both felt he was in great hands for the evening. Lynda tried everything to manage his pain. She fed, bathed, and went above and beyond with even clipping his finger nails. She showed excellent knowledge in the medications and her relationship and patience was outstanding. I know that all of this is an expected procedure but she did it with care and an exceptional attitude.
I witnessed Lynda with many other assistants and nurses moving dad and changing him. She showed leadership and education to those taking over the next shift and to those assisting. She was pleasant and positive from the beginning to the end of her long busy shift. Lynda is an extreme asset to your organization, Phoebe should be very proud to have such a team member.
