On July 10th I had just come from my father's funeral, who died unexpectedly five days earlier, when Lori walks into my husbands room in MICU. He was put in there the night before and was now on a respirator. She had this warm caring smile and told me how sorry she was to hear about my father. She had already explained what was going on to my daughter but took the time to explain everything to me. She told us about every number on the monitor, every bell that would go off, what medicine he was getting and why, his 02 level, heart rate, B/P reading. There wasn't a what, where or why question left to ask. There was never a time that we didn't know what was happening.

She addressed his needs and ours with such love and care, always thinking ahead to make sure he got what he needed. If she even saw a puzzled look on our faces she would come in to see what we needed or what was wrong. She did little extra things like folding his towels neatly when she placed them in his closet, making sure his IV tubes where lying neat and no unnecessary stuff was lying around. We had difficult things come up and decisions to make. Not only would she explain them to me but she would take the time to explain to our children.

There are not enough words to write or could I even show you the love and care that Lori showed to my husband and family the 3 days that he was in MICU. You see on the third day God also took my husband home unexpectedly. I truly believe that God sent me Lori, an Angel to help me make it through the loss of not only my father but my husband of 42 years.
