Lisa's support and compassion towards a 12-year-old boy who had just lost his brother highlights her ability to have empathy when providing care to her patients on an ongoing basis. Lisa gave the young boy her business card and told him to call if he ever needed anything. Later that week she received a personal invitation to the funeral, which she took time to attend. The young boy's school principal and family both wrote acknowledgment notes to Lisa to express their appreciation to Lisa and the Emergency Department for their compassion, communication, and care and to let Lisa know how much she had helped the boy cope with the situation.

Lisa demonstrates what it means to be a DAISY Nurse by modeling compassion and care for all her staff.
