I nominate Lisa Lubbers for the DAISY Award because of the extraordinary compassion and family oriented care she provided to one of our patient's moms. The infant needed a PICC line placed due to having surgery. Mom became very distraught hearing the baby would pull it out as she had experienced the infant pulling out his repogle tube and an IV with his restlessness. Lisa explained to mom that it is sometimes helpful to use baby socks on their hands to help them not pull on their tubes. Mom started crying, " I have no socks." Lisa took the time out of her busy day as a CNP in our unit to take the mom down to our gift shop so she could buy some socks to use for her baby.

She also sat with the mom and told her, "I am so sorry that your baby's lines had come out and needed to be replaced. We come every day and wish to do no harm. I approach each baby as if there were my own and do nothing I wouldn't want done to mine. Mom stated "I really like you, you took the time to understand me." Mom was very relaxed and comfortable with the care the rest of the day.

Lisa is amazing in the customer service she delivers and her "compassionate connection" with our families. She is a true role model of the "Patient Experience". I am so privileged to work with her.
