I went to a conference focused on “Partnership for Patients” campaign. A theme discussed was “Are our nurses engaged?” This reminded me of a situation when I was with Lisa and another person out of the department said to her: “ Lisa you always have a smile on your face”. It was so plain to me that she had a smile for her patient who was out of state: unaware of our community and culture. What struck me upon their admission to the Special Care Unit was what the patient said: that they would rather be admitted in a small rural town as this one in Iowa than somewhere in New York and that they received more compassion since they came to Skiff than what they received from their ex. I knew that was Lisa who had given a complete report of their situation and background. You knew she was empathetic and caring with her beautiful smile throughout their experience by how she went over every detail pertaining to their care and wanted the best outcome from their unexpected stay in our rural town hospital; Skiff Medical Center.

I nominate Lisa Dobbie RN for the DAISY Award because she is totally focused, dedicated, and accountable to her patients’ holistic needs and serves her mission humbly with a lovingly smile. Lisa Dobbie treats everyone as a special guest. I have total confidence and would entrust my loved one in Lisa’s care because she is an advocate for their needs. She is always engaged and partnering with her patients and that is why she is deserving of the DAISY Award.
