Lindsey Jernigan, BSN, RN, received four DAISY nominations this year from patients, parents, and grandparents who wanted her to be recognized for her perpetual smile and compassionate care.
One patient said "I loved having Lindsey as my nurse. She was very pleasant and always came in with a smile and was happy to help!"
A parent said: "Lindsey is by far one of the most compassionate nurses I've met. She always goes above and beyond to make sure my son is cared for on the highest level possible. She prayed with us and comforted us. Lindsey is very professional and does her job above expectation level. My son calls her his favorite nurse. Please pick Lindsey for the DAISY Award. She deserves it more than these words can express."
A second patient said "Lindsey is nice. She takes me outside and she throws the football with me. That's why she should win."
His grandmother confirmed these feelings with this message: "Lindsey is awesome. She made sure my grandson's day was wonderful. Whenever she came around, Lindsey made sure he had a smile on his face. She wakes him up with a song each day. She goes far and beyond. She takes the time to take him outside and throw the football with him. She motivates him to want to get up and walk, go to the game room, and just be happy. We are grateful for such an AWESOME nurse! Go Lindsey GO!! Thanks for everything."
Her Manager validated these comments when she wrote: "Lindsey exudes compassion, dedication, and energy in her role as a nurse on 8B. She is a consistent ray of sunshine who makes the world around her a better place. Lindsey has a deep passion and commitment to her patients and their family members. She takes the time to listen, to breathe, smile, and is mindful of what their experiences are while in the hospital setting. She is often seen singing a baby to sleep, rocking a tired toddler so she can rest, and playing with our older patients to suppress the fact that they are in the hospital. The 8B leadership team is extremely proud of Lindsey, she is most deserving of this award. 8B's staff, patients, and families are better people because of Lindsey's vibrant personality and passion for nursing."
