I am the mother of 2 pediatric patients. I am also a fellow healer at another facility. This particular day, I was quite frantic because I had run out of a medication my son takes for his psychiatric diagnoses. He had been seeing a pediatric psychiatrist and rather abruptly this doctor left practice and we have been frantically looking for a replacement. No replacement yet, lots of stress, hence running out of meds.

I called the office and spoke with a nurse who said Dr. Lipp was not in the office; and that it was unlikely that this could be done before the weekend. She, too, was polite. I understood. I was, after all, calling on a Friday, very last-minute. I knew I was asking something big. I thanked her anyway and figured we would hear on Monday. We would somehow make it through the weekend.

To my shock, I got a call later that afternoon. The pediatric nurse I had spoken with had run it by Linda Austin. Linda, on a busy Friday, took the initiative, managed to call the psychiatric office to confirm my son's prescription and dose and arranged to have the script called into our pharmacy. All this because she knew that otherwise, my son would go without his medications for the weekend, and because she really cares. Other than mentioning that her consideration almost brought me to tears, is there any more to say? Thank You Linda.

Additional Information in Celebration of Linda's Nursing Career

Linda is celebrating her 38th year at Arnett. She completed her RN training at St E School of Nursing and her first job was at St E on the Pediatrics unit. Shortly after, she joined Arnett Clinic as the Pediatric phone nurse. About a year later, a young pediatrician by the name of Dr. Lipp joined Arnett Clinic. Linda became his office nurse in July, 1978.."and the rest is history". Almost 37 years later, they are still serving their pediatric patients, together.

Dr. Lipp Writes:

"Linda has helped with the medical and nursing care for many, many thousands of Pediatric patients at IU Health Arnett. She has been very involved with the intake process, evaluation, and med follow up of thousands of our behavioral pediatric patients.

Her compassion and sincere concern for our patients and their families has been recognized by many over the years; we have received many letters, cards and comments. Our families have recognized Linda's sincere efforts to help improve the physical and emotional wellness of their children.

I would like to recognize and thank Linda for her many years of service, always demonstrating care that is professional, competent and compassionate to all patients and their families."
