Lilia was assessing and conversing with her very critically ill patient in the ICU when she noted that the patient uses a lot of Tylenol at home, so using her critical thinking and initiative, she called and obtained an order for a Tylenol level which then came back above critical level. Then she informed the results to the MD and obtained an order to consult poison control which in turn they recommended a transfer for the patient to a higher level hospital that specializes in liver care and transplant. For this, she quickly facilitated the transfer by contacting the hospital who could take the patient, doctors, family and the ambulance. The patient was transferred to Rush during the night. She worked very hard during that night and never complained.

A few months later, the patient was re-admitted to us and looked way better then when he was admitted to us the first time. This is only one of so many patients that she has taken care of and saved.
