Laure Trickel had been a neighbor or mine for many years, but I didn’t know her well. Then I broke my wrist severely and shortly afterwards became very ill with a problem that family physicians and specialists couldn’t diagnose. Laure began to call on me daily to see how I was doing and to give me her gentle, wise advice. She even stopped by at 10:00 pm one night to re-wrap my wrist.

Early one morning when my husband and I were at our wit’s end and exhausted, Laure called. She said she had barely slept that night over concern for me, and offered to spend the day with me and take me to three doctors’ appointments. It was wonderful. She spoke to the doctors on my behalf and held my hand during one of the difficult procedures. She was there for me as a nurse, friend, advisor, and source of comfort.

I will never forget the time she took out of her busy life to tend to me in my illness. Thanks to her I regained my health. I will be forever grateful for this extraordinary nurse. She is a dear caring friend who goes out of her way to help others.

Laure is most deserving of the DAISY Award. I feel very fortunate and blessed to know her.
