Laura brings a joy to the unit; she always is there to help and assist in a "crisis" situation. She responds without being asked, and the Labor and Delivery staff is so very proud of her.

On March 3, 2015, L&D had a heavy OR schedule. Every OR nurse was assigned back to back cases. One of the last cases was a scheduled c/section with a fetal demise. I knew this was a bad assignment. These are difficult cases for all of us. When I told Laura her assignment, I apologized and she said, "It is what it is. I'm fine." She was not angry, nor upset. She accepted the assignment and moved on. The day was crazy busy and she only had one hour to prep the patient for the OR (she was rushed). When I came into the room, she was sitting at eye level with the patient explaining the consents. She was holding her hand during the crying outbursts. She did not let the patient or spouse know how rushed she was. All the patient knew was this nurse was here to help her through this traumatic experience. Laura was a DAISY on this day!
