Lacey joined the NICU team as a new graduate nurse in 2008, and has developed into an excellent clinician and expert Neonatal Intensive Care nurse. She strives to consistently provide comprehensive individualized, patient and family centered care. She works collaboratively with the entire health care team to ensure that each infant receives the safest and highest quality care. Her professionalism demonstrates "Patients Are First" each time she comes to work.

For families, having a baby in the NICU can be a traumatic and emotional experience. Lacey is described as "one of the best nurses" to support the family as they experience their baby in the NICU for the first time. Fragile, premature infants require a lot of medical support. Lacey takes the time to provide clear explanations in a way that provides comfort to families while easing some of their fears. Sometimes families have prematurity syndromes and medical issues to manage. Lacey supports reluctant family members into an early state of acceptance. She provides realistic explanations of the newborn's medical conditions, while also communicating the infant's endearing characteristics. Her gentle yet straightforward approach helps support families in accepting their unique baby.

Lacey is a strong advocate for patient and family centered care. She develops strong relationships with families which help her gauge their readiness to assume care of their infant. She also has been known to make sure that families have somewhere to rest when post-discharge arrangements haven't been completed.

Lacey is also a strong member of the team. She is highly capable and willing to assume any assignment that is needed. She functions well as both charge and resource RN because she has excellent clinical skills, a strong, positive work ethic and an awareness of the state of the unit. Lacey is also a remarkable preceptor, extremely patient, supportive, and challenging. She practices evidence-based care and ensures that the newly hired RN develops this practice as well.

Lacey is an amazing professional nurse! Whenever Lacey is present, babies and their families receive outstanding care.
