An 18-year-old MVA trauma patient was involved in a head-on collision that suddenly took his aunt's life and caused his mother to be flown to IUH Methodist Hospital on the CIC unit. The 18-year old, his aunt, and his mother just left the hospital at IUH BMH after visiting the aunt's husband who suddenly had a change in status and was unable to be discharged home with them. Kyle advocated to keep the 18-year-old on our floor (CPC) this day so that he could have time to cope and have enough room for family visitors to be with him and for the Chaplains to see him. The patient requested a bible and Kyle called Chaplain services to retrieve this for him. She also got a wheelchair for the patient so that he could visit with his uncle on our floor who was still a patient and he could ask questions about his wife's last moments. Kyle was truly compassionate and empathetic to her patient's needs during a very traumatic event.
