...I had Kristy as an instructor my second year of nursing school and I knew then she is who I wanted to emulate. I can say I would not have made it through school without her guidance and mentoring. When returning back to Wyoming I was ecstatic to see her as Memorial Hospital's nurse educator.

Kristy taught me 'yes you can take orders do everyday tasks or you can know what you are doing with those'. She described nursing once as a diamond, as an instructor she helped chip that diamond into its perfect form. If that diamond is left unclean and unpolished can become dull. It is important as a nurse to keep polished and shined to be the best nurse you can be. I remember being a new nurse and watching her work with intelligence, compassion, passion, care, diligence, empathy, and most important do what is right for the patient.

15 years later; we recently had a very ill pediatric patient and she searched for help in starting an IV as she knew the medical floor was busy and overwhelmed. Kristy had many other responsibilities but she stayed and made sure that child was taken care of, fluids started and well on his way to recovery. She has taught me no matter what, DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THE PATIENT.

Kristy is an amazing educator and one of a kind. Yes, there are many amazing educators, but Kristy is exceptional. Many can teach skills and procedures, but Kristy can inspire and motivate students/nurses to a higher level of competence and encourages new knowledge. Nurses have often joked she is a mini encyclopedia!! She is a nurse who makes the profession shine and stand out.
