I would like to recognize an amazing nurse practitioner, Kristine. I had frequent interactions with her during my mother's long battle with stage 4 breast cancer that she eventually lost last year. I would accompany my mother on her sometimes-weekly visits for chemotherapy for the past 2 ½ years. Krissy always managed to make my mom smile during her visits. She has a kind, caring way of instilling hope at every encounter. She showed genuine concern for my mom's and our family's overall physical and psychosocial well-being.
I have been employed as a nurse at HUMC for 30 years and rarely have I encountered someone so genuinely empathetic and caring. She made an incredible difference in my mom's final months. I will forever be grateful for the positive impact she made on my mom and myself during this very difficult experience. She truly demonstrates attributes that all nurses hope to achieve and provides patient and family centered care. HUMC should be proud to have a wonderful nurse like her on staff.
