I had my appendix out and 10 days later had to have the wound opened. I have never had anything like that or seen anyone with a wound open. I had worked myself up about the dressing change. I was scared about pain, blood, infection and more.
Kristina said "I am going to explain what I am doing step by step. Tell me about your family." We talked about my kids and she laughed with me. She listened to me. She cared! Then she said "we're done!" She said "you did a great job."
I think so many times in life people just want to talk about negative things and I don't. I wanted Kristina to be rewarded not only for being a good nurse but a fantastic human being! I don't know if she knows how truly scared I was and what a difference she made.
