Kristie is very deserving of the DAISY award according to an employee/patient that nominated her. “As a nurse at Sanford, I understand what it takes to be a thoughtful, strong and capable nurse. I was a patient on OB, induced to deliver our baby at 16 weeks due to fetal demise. It was a sad time for our family and the second loss in less than a year with many questions that could not be answered. Kristie took the time to sit down and feel our loss with us. Kristie imparted her knowledge as a nurse but when there weren’t professional answers, she knew what to say, person to person, mother to mother, to put our mind at ease. She answered our questions in a compassionate and caring way. Kristie walked us through tough decisions with grace, dignity, and compassion. Kristie seemed to find the right words and made this difficult moment in our lives more comfortable and survivable. A couple of weeks later, Kristie called asking if she could stop by our home. Kristie came over after work one evening which happened to be Mother’s day. Kristie wanted to check on me and see how I was doing physically and mentally. Kristie gave me a gift I will always cherish. She made a simple bracelet with a small flower charm to signify the child we lost. There were small pearls and clear crystal stones as well as two pale blue crystal stones. At that time we did not know that our baby was a boy. I can’t tell you how much peace this bracelet has brought to me. Kristie made a quick and lasting impression on us and we will never forget it. Kristie is quite an asset to our patients and Sanford. Thank you.”
