... The most vivid event to me is when she was receiving a transfusion at the Oncology Center. A patient next to her, receiving an infusion as well, had an allergic reaction to their medication. Kris witnessed this and sprang into action. She first had to remove her own IV line and, then she ran to the patient and started the CPR/ACLS protocol. She was able to get that patient back with proper anaphylactic responses and medicines. She literally saved that patient's life. On a daily basis, she always shows excellent patient care and critical thinking skills. She is always supportive of her team, and managing up. On a personal level, I always look forward to working with her on any occasion. She is very easy to talk with and always has a smile. She is a wonderful person to be around. I think Kris exemplifies all facets of the DAISY award and I am not only happy to work with her, but to also call her my friend.

Kris Jackson deserves the Daisy Award because of her continued quest for excellence in nursing. She is constantly striving for exceptional patient care. Her selfless passion for her profession goes far beyond the routine nine-to-five. She sees it as a way of life, not just a job. Her communication skills are exemplary, as are her critical thinking skills. I am very fortunate to have her on my call team in the Cardiac Cath Lab. As a call team member, she can always be counted on for superb patient care and her judgment skills are above par for our lab. This makes her a pivotal component in our hospital and in our department, as we are an "Auto-accept" facility serving the whole east Tennessee and southeastern Kentucky region for emergent cardiac patients. During emergency situations, she is always clear and concise, using closed loop communication with teammates and physicians to eliminate the possibilities for errors. Along with this, she couples attentive purpose to the patient's and family's needs; not just physical, but emotional, as well as, spiritual. She is very keen to notice more than just the physical symptoms and needs of our patients. She has no hesitation to help the patient better understand the procedure and treatment that they will undergo. She has a very analytical mind and can quickly see issues that may potentially affect the patient and tries to circumvent them whenever possible. Thru education, Kris is constantly striving to better herself, for the sake of her profession and her own personal satisfaction. She is currently seeking her Masters in nursing and is maintaining an "A" average. On top of this, she is the caregiver for her live-in mother, who has Alzheimer's and dementia. She is alert to the smallest of details, which makes her an ideal candidate for the DAISY Award. She is an excellent role model for the nursing profession.
