Komal was at the gym at the Condo complex when she became aware that a resident had become unresponsive while working out. Komal immediately went to his side, assessed him and began CPR. Medics arrived and brought him to CMC where he was admitted and treated. He recovered and was able to be discharged home, due to the immediate action of Komal.
Komal recognized that her condo’s gym did not have an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). The resident had been in a lethal rhythm that could have been helped with an AED. Komal has since brought the need for an AED to the Board of the condo and they have purchased an AED for the gym. She also enlisted the help of one of her co-workers to hold a “friends and Family” COPR class at the condo’s clubhouse. This class will be open to all residents of the condo free of charge. Komal’s condo is located above a grocery store. The AED will also be available for shoppers at the store and will potentially save many more lives.
Komal certainly lives the CHS mission in providing benefit to the community in which she lives.
