Kelly is without question, the backbone of this department. Her nursing skills are exemplary. In fact, there isn't anything she requires of the nurses that she couldn't or wouldn't do herself. She is a hands-on charge nurse, who is a model for all of the other nurses. She is a leader, an educator, and an inspiration to all that work with her. Kelly is going to school to pursue her BSN degree, and inspired me to do the same! We are on-board with our hospital's goal of obtaining Magnet Status. She has an excellent rapport with our ER and admitting physicians. They respect her opinion, nursing skills and legal knowledge. Kelly is a role model for the other nurses in regards to her professionalism with the patients. She is always ready with a smile and comforting words. She also has a talent for being able to defuse potentially volatile situations. Kelly is essentially everyone's "go to girl". I've never witnessed a situation that Kelly wasn't able to handle. Her personality has a calming effect on the staff, even in the most stressful of situations. In all honesty, I cannot think of a more deserving person for this award.

Kelly is the epitome of a team leader. She is a quiet, calm nurse who leads by example. Kelly allows her team to step up and perform while she is always a ready resource. I have watched young nurses thrive with her instruction to become very competent emergency nurses. During a Code Blue or Rapid Response she exhibits her calm approach, aiding in defusing the anxiety of these scenarios. She shares her knowledge while allowing the team to gain experience. Kelly is always available to assist the other units whenever needed. Kelly always has a smile for very co-worker and patient. She knows how to calm the young children or anxious adults who visit our Emergency Room. Kelly's warm, cheerful demeanor makes her a pleasure to work with.

She is an amazing leader, always the first to pick up or cover a shift if the department is in need. She leads by example and works her tail off. Being a new nurse, I appreciate how hard she works to make sure I have everything I need to succeed.
