Having been sick and dealing with Crohn's Diseases since age 12, this was a particularly difficult stay for me because I am due now for a permanent colostomy. Kelly took her time to cater to my every need to the extent of sitting with me and comforting me through this highly emotional time. Her only job was to be my nurse, but she took the time to be a caregiver, a counselor and a friend when I had no one else to talk to or depend on during this time. I've spent many hours in Room 209 crying and alone, but every available minute she had, she spent making sure I was okay. Out of 17 years of hospitalizations and surgeries, I've never had a nurse show the care and concern that she did.

I wanted the opportunity to thank her and relay how much of an impact she had on me during this time. Being discharged today, I won't get the chance to thank her personally and wanted to do something to show my appreciation. If I knew of any other ways to have her recognized, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. I don't know how significant a DAISY Award is to a nurse, but I can tell you that it's nowhere near the recognition she deserves. Thank you Kelly. You really were a blessing to have during this difficult time in my life.
