Let me say that first, everyone we have dealt with since last Sunday when my daughter was admitted has been nothing short of exceptional, but there is a stand out, Kayla in 5B.

Last Sunday night was one of the worst days I have ever experienced. It was about 4 am Monday when my daughter finally got to 5B. That morning we met Kayla. My daughter could not have been in better care. The simple act of caring by her meant more to my wife and me than we could possibly ever tell her. It was Monday night though that was the best/worst part. Our daughter had a procedure planned which included a catheter into her lung, and attempt to poke holes in 2 blood clots. The outlook was bleak. She was not expected to make it out of the procedure that night. Kayla, who we were later told was supposed to be off at 7, stayed through the procedure. She finally left after 9 pm, giving up some family time to be with my daughter.

In asking questions of her, which I can only imagine probably numbers in the hundreds for most families (and my family too) she was nothing short of compassionate, professional, and she took her time to explain everything, and answered every question for the next few days. She has helped us greatly though a time that we were probably never knowing how to make it though. She is outstanding! She has our thanks! It is with great honor that I nominate Kayla for the DAISY Award.
