Kate Pasarow, MSN, RN was nominated by one of her fellow nurses for her willingness to spring into action when she found out a patient was in need.

Johnette Marlow, BSN, RN described the situation. "I had a patient who had an MI. He had a stent placed and was then put on Brilinta. When I discharged the patient, I gave him a voucher for a month's supply. The patient had to have this medication or the stent would occlude. Around 1700, on the day of discharge, he called me from Amigos. He was unable to get the medication filled. The pharmacy had to order it. The patient had no phone and no car. I told him to stay there and call me in 30 minutes. Kate was so helpful. I tried to call the pharmacist for our unit, but couldn't reach him, so I spoke to Dr. Rivas and told her we were working on getting help for patient. Kate got in touch with Chris, our pharmacist and he was able to get the patient all of his medications for a month. I told Kate I would take them to him after work, but she was leaving and insisted on taking the medications to the patient. (It was also her birthday). She is awesome!"

Kate goes above and beyond for her fellow nurses and patients every day. She is a great role model for teamwork and compassion. We are proud to honor Kate Pasarow, MSN, RN as our DAISY Award Honoree.
