Kasey is very deserving of the DAISY award according to an employee/patient and co-worker that nominated her. “Kasey was amazing when I had my heart attack. Kasey helped my family and I feel more comfortable with this situation and I can’t tell you how thankful I am. Kasey stayed strong when my family needed it. I want Kasey to know that with all her help and hard work that I am back to my same old self and able to go on living life like a normal person. I am eternally grateful for Kasey’s help. Thank you.”
“I witnessed something so incredible that I need to share it with you. Kasey was covering a break for a nurse taking care of a post code young female who was vented, on hypothermia protocol, etc. with 3 young children. Kasey’s warm friendly smile and compassion shined through when I saw the patient’s children show up to see their mother. The children were so scared they didn’t want to go into the room. Seeing their mother with all the tubes and pumps was a very scary thing for them. Kasey talked to them so they could understand, explained to them what the monitors and noises were and how the nurses and doctors monitored their mother. In 30 minutes, Kasey had not only helped these young children feel a little more comfortable but she had them picking out TV shows to watch with their mom. The children were not afraid to be in the room and were even holding hands with her. Kasey did an outstanding job. This was just one example of the many, many times that I have seen this kind of compassion from Kasey. What a wonderful, caring nurse we have on our unit.”
Thank you, Kasey, for making a real difference for Sanford patients. Congrats!
