Kacey has received multiple nominations by patients and their families.

#1 - The patient, my wife, age 76, had great difficulty breathing. Her blood oxygen rate was in the low 70's. Her doctor had made arrangements for emergency admission due to the perceived seriousness of her condition. My wife is a pancreatic cancer patient and a lung biopsy and stress test were performed to help in identifying the cause of her medical condition. After eliminating pneumonia, cancer cells in the lungs, and fluid around the heart, the probable effects were the side effects of the chemotherapy.

She was in the hospital for 14 days. All of her healthcare folks were great, but one really went beyond expectations. Kacey almost immediately bonded with my wife. She was like a loving daughter with compassion and desire to cover my wife with tender, loving care. She has a beautiful genuine smile and moves from task to task with skill and professional techniques. It is very evident she knows what her responsibilities are and enjoys doing them.

#2 - I am a nurse at a children's hospital out of state and Kacey, the nurse caring for my father, showed her excellent patient advocate skills. She was given orders that she was uncomfortable performing, so she called the attending and requested a consult for cardiology. The doctor agreed it was a good idea and the consult was made. I feel that Kacey is a young nurse who already exemplifies strong nursing skills. UT Medical Center will be very lucky to keep her as a nurse as she grows in her profession.

#3 - Kacey cared for my dad many days over this 13-day hospital stay. She was very aware and advocated for his best interest with the doctors, other staff, and my dad also. She is a young nurse who will just continue to excel in this profession. I am a nurse manager and I would hire her any day.

#4 - Sunny smile - Always! My nephew demanded attention. She certainly went beyond her job description in seeing that he was comfortable. She also was extremely nice to me (his aunt). You see it wasn't just one situation, she gives her best at all times.

#5 - Very Good!
