Thank you Juile! An annual visit to the gynecologist revealed a breast anomaly, a diagnostic mammogram was ordered for the next day, a biopsy the next, an MRI, and my world became head spinning. I could not have handled the multitude of appointments within the next weeks with all the information that accompanied each, without the help and guidance ofJulie.Juliewas there for me with guidance, care, and emotional support, but most of all listening to my concerns with a box of tissues handy for the tears that accompanied them.
Her depth of knowledge simplifies the vast information from ultrasound biopsyand reports from surgeons, radiation, and medical oncologists. (She's even a pretty good artist when necessary to diagram test results.)Julie has an incredible grasp of the breast cancer treatment process. Her private conference with my husband and myself, although it carried pretty grim news, was reassuring in so many ways. Julie mastered the art of targeting information to enable us to come away from the first conference with decisions I needed to make, the physicians involved in each specialty, and an approximate timeline of how all of it would occur. She walked us through important literature about the disease and the tests that would guide us to the right decisions for cure. We left with her assuring words, her card, and to call with any questions. Throughout these following weeks, if she didn't hear from me in a while, I received a check-in call from her.
As for the person who is Julie, she is exceptional at everything she does. Not just her knowledge and skillset, but her interaction with patients. She is an excellent listener. She cares deeply about patient concerns and issues, provides an explanation, and works on a remedy, whether it is something simple like an appointment mix-up or complex such as explaining the meaning of tests and how medications work.
If I could personally tell Julie one thing, it would be, "Your availability has been wonderful. I have a stack of cards from radiologists, oncologists, surgeons, and treatment centers, but yours is on the top. My sincerest thanks, Julie."
