Julianne Robison was honored as a DAISY nurse for two things: providing excellent nursing care and demonstrating teamwork and mentorship to a new nursing colleague. It also was a special presentation because her parents, boyfriend, and her boyfriend’s parents attended. Additionally, Ellen Cram, PhD, RN, assistant dean for nursing undergraduate programs from the UI College of Nursing, attended in recognition of Julianne’s contributions to the clinical teaching of undergraduate nursing students. Here is what was said about her:
“Julie showed her team skills when another nurse got overwhelmed and had to step away from a patient. Julie ran right over to pick up the other nurse’s work. This situation also showed compassion and caring not just for the distraught patient but also for her overwhelmed co-worker. Julie did a wonderful job of communicating with me for my entire stay in the hospital. There was not one time I felt like she was talking over my head and she made sure if I had any questions, or concerns they were addressed immediately. I can honestly say she made a huge impact on me, my family, and the very distraught patient that she ran to comfort. I am so grateful that Julie was my nurse. I honestly do think she’s the best.”
