Recently, a critically ill patient was medically deteriorating. The family was quite distraught. The patient was on ventilator support and had many IV meds that required almost constant monitoring. Julia was caring for the patient during his stay here, and remained in command of the difficult situation prior to and after the patient's passing. She demonstrated technical professionalism and a compassionate understanding of the grief the family was experiencing. This was quite evident as members of the family hugged her stating, "you are the angel that we've prayed for". They thanked her over and over, knowing that she she went well above her required nursing tasks and demonstrated true compassion for the patient and family. Julia makes her ICU team proud because of the exceptional care she provides. Julia is a very special nurse.
