Jody has always been kind, compassionate and caring. But this isn't about my co-worker, this is about a beautiful soul who always went above and beyond when caring for my mother. My mother was a "frequent flyer" at UVMC. She was transfusion dependent the last several years. For the last year, she received blood every 2 weeks. Jody always greeted my mother with a warm smile and hug. She was more than "mom's nurse", she was, as my mother would say, "the daughter I always wanted". (My mom had 9 daughters). No matter how bad mom felt, Jody always had a way to make her feel better. They shared stories, a lot of them at my expense, laughter and tears. During Mom's final hospital stay, Jody visited often providing comfort not only for my mom but the entire family. Jody was there to share in our grief. Jody definitely held a special place in mom's heart and I'm sure her death left a hole in Jody's heart.
