Our child C was admitted for emergency intestinal surgery after being at UAB for a month and half. Six surgeries and 157 days later and hopefully within a week of discharge we prepare to bring a new 7 month old baby home with a lot of extras. Our child has a rare condition called Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, a congenital overgrowth disorder that causes many other issues, and also Short Bowel syndrome. Jill has been there from our first surgery helping us understand why everything was happening and what to expect and do in the next days, weeks, and months ahead. She has been our trusted go-to medical professional from the beginning because of her extensive knowledge, outstanding loving care she has shown our daughter the whole way, and her understanding and straight forwardness to us as parents.

When we needed to talk about the many medical conditions, surgeries, and procedures and be understood as well as comprehension of what is going on, Jill always took the time to make sure C and we, as concerned parents, always had every question answered to her fullest ability. She went above and beyond what was asked of her on a regular basis, and that had a HUGE impact on my child's care and recovery.

We now prepare to go home with C having a central line on home TPN, a tracheostomy, and a g-tube. These were all unexpected additions to our child's health care. Jill helped the rough confusing road be a little smoother and less scary by her exceptional care, attention to detail, and excellent mediation skills being our voice to all the doctors and special care teams. She even made sure to keep up with C and her problems and progress when she didn't have her as an assigned patient for days or weeks, and was always available to us when we needed her.

So Thank You Jill (and High Five) from the bottom of our hearts for always making our child a priority. You are a life changer and an AWESOME Nurse!! Thank You again and a special thank you from C also!!
