I think Jessica Jameson exudes compassion and a caring attitude for all of our patients. She goes above and beyond what is required to take care of our patients and their families. She is a new SANE nurse and an asset to our community. She stays on call over night without pay to provide this service and is an overall great team player.
A four year old came to the emergency department for a SANE exam. While Jessica was a student SANE, she went above and beyond what is needed; she stayed with that family for four more hours while the child got medically seen; she came back on Saturday and spent time with that family, and then actually got to be with them on Monday when they got the SANE exam performed, and the family asked for Jessica by name. Those children were excited to see her and spend time with her. I noticed that day that she truly loves her profession, and makes an excellent example of a compassionate nurse. When families go through those traumatic times, it means a lot when a family asks for you by name, because they remember the care you provided for them.
Jessica always shows compassion and caring for her patients and family members. She was taking care of a patient in the Emergency Department. The patient's little girl was sitting with her father and Jessica noted that she had multiple sores and scratch marks on her arms. Jessica talked with the mother and father about it and found the child has a nervous habit of scratching when she gets upset. The mother had a broken arm and had been unable to clip the child's nails. Jessica asked if she could clip them, the mother was very appreciative. She clipped the nails, spent time talking to the child and got her a coloring book to keep her occupied. This shows how she always goes above and beyond to help.
