Jerusha is a compassionate and caring individual who has shown my family extraordinary care through some happy and tough times. She has supported my sister through several deliveries as her personal nurse on the labor and delivery floor @ FMH. This is includes the time where my sister had to endure the loss of her infant son. She came on her days off to be there when my sister was delivering and stayed late after her shift to make sure my sister was comfortable. From my sister, "She stayed until we actually told her to go home, not because we didn't want her there, but because she had been there all morning and night and would have stayed all night again, just to assist us." She spent time gently explaining the stillborn delivery as it was different than a live birth in order to make my sister more at peace with the very difficult situation.

During another one of my sister's deliveries, she was there as "family" support as we, her immediate family, were unable to get there in time for the delivery. This was huge to our family because we knew we didn't have to worry because my sister would be just fine under her care. As situations arise, as they always do with labor and delivery, she is right there explaining what is occurring and obtaining assistance from other staff if necessary. I have seen her take time out to make sure my sister's older children were comfortable during the visiting time with their new sibling.

She deserves this award because she would never bring attention to herself as being an extraordinary nurse but I believe she needs to be recognized for her kindness and compassionate care to a repeat patient on labor and delivery. I know there have been numerous other families that have benefited from her care of them during the labor process but I am deeply grateful for her for her services as a labor and delivery nurse to my family. Thank You.
