On a daily basis, Jenny goes above and beyond what is expected of her. She comes to work every day with a positive attitude, no matter how challenging her assignment may be. Her coworkers enjoy working with her. Jenny is a great team player, preceptor for new nurses, and also a relief charge nurse. She is the co-chair of the 3A clinical council, and truly helps to engage staff to make our unit enjoyable to work on. She is also a skin care champion for 3A, attends the quarterly meetings and demonstrates her passion for patient safety.
One story that stands out was on this past Easter Sunday. Jenny had a patient who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer with mets to her brain, and all the patient wanted to do was go outside. Jenny made sure all of her other patients were comfortable and would be watched over, and took her patient outside in a wheelchair to feel the sunshine on that Easter Sunday. It brought such a smile to this patient's face that was contagious for us all to see. The family mentioned how much that meant to them and really made them comfortable under Jenny's care.
Jenny is constantly demonstrating her compassion when taking care of patients, and this is just one example of her going above and beyond. She takes the time to know the patient's story, constantly advocating for them. When Jenny comes in for meetings on her off days, she goes out of her way to say hi to patients she has taken care of. Patients truly enjoy her visits and this brings a smile to their face, knowing she has been thinking about them. When rounding, patients always give positive feedback on her care and compassion. Jenny is very deserving of this recognition, as she is always demonstrating the Mercy mission.
