Mitchell has worked in adult critical care for 15 years. She was nominated for a DAISY Award by a family member after providing care to patient on life support. The family was out of town during the patient's hospitalization, and Mitchell's caring and compassion allowed them to make the necessary arrangements to get to the hospital and say goodbye to their loved one.

Mitchell stayed at work past the end of her scheduled shift to care for the patient while the family traveled from out of state to the hospital. Her skill and expertise helped the family navigate the difficult end-of-life transition for their loved one.
