Jenn has become actively involved in our Continuity of Care Committee. She consistently signs up to be primary nurse for her patients. One patient she signed up for was here as a patient for over 150 days. Jenn was his nurse everyday she worked from March until August. We did an audit on turns for each day the patient was on our pulmonary unit and all turns were completed on time the days Jenn was here. The last time the patient was here, we were able to get him weaned off the ventilator.

Jenn was able to create a bond with the patient and his mother. She trusted Jenn. There was a morning Jenn walked into the room and she was crying. As a mother, she thought something was wrong and her son was dying. The patient's vital signs were stable. He was unable to talk or answer questions as usual but Jenn took the time to listen to his mother's concerns. Jenn summoned the nurse manager and the physician. The patient's mother told us that she had waited all weekend for Jenn to return to work and she was relieved to see her that morning. When Jenn entered the room, she could not help but cry with relief. Jenn helped ease her fears.

The day the patient was discharged, Jenn drove in to say goodbye to him and his mother. She called Jenn her "Angel". Jenn provided exceptional care for the patient and his mother. Because of Jenn's extraordinary, compassionate care, they had a great patient experience!
