The Professional Practice Council would like to nominate Jeff Hodges, CNO for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Jeff is compassionate and selfless. He is an excellent nurse and he cares so much for the patients and staff of Magee Women's Hospital. He is outgoing and visible to the staff. He did a four-hour shadowing of a nurse and a PCT on a Med/Surg unit. He wore scrubs and helped with patient care. He gave a patient a bed bath. He is approachable and many staff have commented on his love of nursing, the patients and staff of Magee. He went to the Magnet Conference with several Magee nurses and they found his enthusiasm very exhilarating at the conference. He is a one of a kind leader who is respected by the staff, patients and families. He has been the CNO for a short period and his impact on Magee-Women's Hospital has been profound! The whole hospital is buzzing about his compassion, caring and outgoing leadership style. We feel that it is a great privilege to work for such a special leader and nurse.

Jeff has made a powerful impact on Magee in few short months as Chief Nursing Officer. I think Jeff has made this happen by his approachability. Jeff smiles and says Hello to employees in the hallway, always strikes up conversations and is genuinely interested in the employees he works with. With "lunch with the CNO" and implementing "shadow days", Jeff has clearly shown his dedication to staff's needs and striving for increased visibility with the nurses. I am very excited to continue this Magnet journey with Jeff!

Jeff's enthusiasm is contagious. Staff members that I talk to are so excited to have him as CNO because he is so incredibly down to earth and very personable. He has the energy to get us where we want to go as an organization and leadership ability to bring all interested staff along. I am very happy to report to him and hope that his energy level is just as contagious as his enthusiasm.

Jeff is an energetic, compassionate leader. He is an advocate for both patients and staff members. He makes time to meet and talk with staff members each day to see how they are doing.

Jeff has made a great difference in our leadership since becoming the CNO. He is easy to communicate with and cares about all the nurses on the units throughout the hospital. He listens and is trying to make positive changes for the staff. He is very visible, friendly and willing to help anywhere that he can to improve processes in the hospital.
