“Jamie Rivera is an excellent nurse who delivers compassionate care to her patients every time. Gentleness and patience are ever present in her care delivery. Her bright smile and calm manner promotes a healing and nurturing environment for our patients and their families. 1 West team members appreciate Jamie, she is a vital team member. She is knowledgeable and resourceful to her team.

Jamie makes a difference by not only doing the necessary care activities, but goes above and beyond to make her patients feel nurtured. I observed Jamie in action one day with a geriatric patient who was confused and having a difficult time staying focused and expressed much anxiety about being in the hospital. The patient used the call light almost continuously in the first hour of the shift. Jamie took charge and placed her patient at the nursing station and sat down with her and spent time talking with her. Jamie’s calm manner soothed the patient, and the patient settled down. Later in the shift, Jamie took patient to the 1 West Rose Garden, and they spent time selecting a rose for her to keep. I observed the patient and Jamie returning from the Rose Garden, and the patient had a smile as wide as Jamie’s as well as a relaxed expression. And, when the patient was assisted to bed for a rest period, patient went to sleep. This is just one example of what Jamie does every day, every patient, every time…kind, compassionate, nurturing care.”

It is with this kind of compassionate and dedicated care that Kaiser Permanente and the DAISY Foundation present you with the DAISY award.

Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,

Charlene Taylor, RN, MSN
