Irene was 8 months pregnant when I was admitted to Providence with bad Atrial Fibrillation on a Friday evening. I had to wait until Monday for them to do an ablation and was extremely nervous as this was my first hospital visit and surgery (except for the birth of my children). Irene had a very calming and caring way about her that really helped put me at ease. She stayed to explain things when I'm sure she was feeling uncomfortable standing in one place for so long. She was there to greet me when I came back from surgery on Monday and I can't tell you what a relief I felt to see her face.

All the nurses in PCU (I spent 4 nights) were very nice but Irene was special. I wish I'd had a chance to thank her and say goodbye before she was off work. If I could, I'd have liked to have given Irene a gift for her new baby but I was told that was not allowed. I nominate Irene for the DAISY award to show my appreciation and let her know how much her care meant to me.
