~ I nominate Heidi Merritt-Petersen, ED RN, for the DAISY Award for her cheerfulness, maturity and clinical expertise.

Heidi is “genuinely nice,” and a pleasure to work with. She has an easy going disposition. She always has a smile on her face, and asks, “How can I help?”

Heidi has been at Harborview since September 2008, but it seems like she has been here a long time. She is calm and does not get flustered. She projects confidence and experience. She makes good clinical decisions, sets her priorities right, and is a great patient advocate. She supports newer staff as a frequent preceptor.

When I told an RN friend of mine who worked with Heidi at her previous employment, the friend said, “Heidi is an incredible find, you have gained a great asset!”

Heidi is a really fun nurse to work with; she is always profession and is a great clinical resource. Her interactions with patients are kind and thoughtful, always going that extra mile to ensure they are well cared for and comfortable. Heidi is loved by the staff, always happy to help out, proactive in seeking opportunities, a real member of the team.
If you want to me a great Emergency Nurse, then you want to be just like Heidi.
Thank you Heidi for doing what you do, you are a real part of this department.

Heidi is an absolute super-star on our unit. She truly cares about giving her patients the best of her knowledge, compassion, and expertise. She treats all of her patients with the utmost respect and regard. I think the thing that stands out the most about Heidi is her ability to bring out the best in her colleagues as well. In her quiet and unassuming manner, she inspires those around her to give their best and reminds me every day how lucky I am to be a nurse.

Heidi always goes out of her way to help patients and staff. Heidi is awesome, her peers love working with her. Her pt care is outstanding and is always thinking of pt first. She communicates with fellow support in regards to pt's care.

Heidi is such a wonderful RN and co-worker. She is someone who always seeks out opportunities to help others and she does a tremendous job with her own patients. She is compassionate, positive, humble and such a great critical thinker. She would never ask someone to do a job that she wouldn’t do herself. HMC is so lucky to have Heidi on their staff, whether she is working triage, trauma or medicine, she is always smiling. Her patients and co-workers are always in good hands when she is here because she always puts other people first. She is a great role model and teacher, and I cannot think of another nurse who is more deserving of this award than Heidi!
